Motor Vehicles Policy

Parking, traffic, and vehicle registration regulations have been established to maintain safety and order on University property.  All students are expected to be familiar with and abide by University motor vehicle regulations as found on the Notre Dame Police Department website or issued as necessary as special directives, which have the force of a University Regulation.  Chronic or serious violations of these regulations may be referred to the University Conduct Process.  First-year students living on campus may not possess or rent an automobile, or any other motor-driven vehicle, for use while in attendance at the University, unless authorized to do so by the Office of Student Affairs. The University does not permit students enrolled in study abroad programs to own, rent, or operate cars while abroad.
